KVRU is thrilled to welcome two members to the Advisory Board – James Nguyen and Lisl Stadler. Lisl and James bring new and diverse experience to the Board and we appreciate their service!
James (Minh) Nguyen is a first-generation Vietnamese American and Beacon Hill native. He/They recently became a 2020 graduate with their JD/MIA dual-degree in Law and International Relations, from the City University of New York, School of Law, and Colin Powell School for Civic and Global Leadership. James is a new father, a transformative mediator, and until March 2021, a Launch Pad legal fellow. In his spare time, you can find him stressing about fulfilling employment, the February 2021 Bar, and his undertaking of the public movement and arts project, Sustainable International Peace (SIP) through Network Civil Sovereigns.
Lisl Stadler is from rural Klickitat County in Washington. When she was in eighth grade, she attended a recording of the BBC Radio show “World Have Your Say” in The Dalles, Oregon. The show was a mix of call-in and live discussion with local communities. Lisl met the producers and thought there was no cooler job than theirs – traveling the world learning and sharing people’s stories. Lisl has held a variety of jobs, but the idea of narrative and story was more intriguing to her than anything else. She began hosting and producing shows for KVRU and realized that this was her version of the BBC Radio hosts’ job – building community by sharing stories, and building confidence in individuals that their story matters.
